Friday, 23 December 2022: Casa Colibri

Single digits and subzero temps in Green Bay — nope, I do not wish I was there … not one little bit.  Instead, I’m here in Celestun baking Christmas cookies.  I always make sand tarts.  This year I’ve added rum balls to my list.  I was prompted by dear friend Pennie Yancey who posted the recipe we used at Alvin High School back in the early ‘80s.  I might have made rum balls three or four times since then but she’s made them every year.  Mine turned out great.  Thank you Pennie!

Trump’s tax returns are again in the news.Julie and her daughter Mali arrived in Celestun today.  They spent time in Merida and Progresso before arriving here in Celestun.  Mali has a short Christmas break and she headed to the warmth of the beach to be with her mom. The trip isn’t going exactly as Julie had imagined…ok, not anywhere close.  I hope they are able to salvage something of their time together.
