Saturday, 27 October 2018: Celestun

Our first full day back at “home.”  We took our time just walking around the house looking and planning.  Abram was very helpful, as we knew he would be.  We went for a short swim and walked into town along the beach for breakfast at Peter’s Dolphin restaurant. It was nice to see him as well as Grelty, Kari and Shyla.  We bought bananas and oranges at the market before we hopped in a tri-cycle taxi for the short (20 pesos or $1) trip home.  It is certainly close enough to walk but since we’d exerted ourselves 1,000 times more by swimming and walking into town than we’d done for several days before, we thought it was time for a nap. Plus, it is hot!

We stirred around the house a bit more before we went back into town for dinner.  Tonight’s fare was our favorite guacamole and charro beans from El Palmar.  We met a nice couple from the Netherlands who were traveling with their three daughters aged two years, one year and eight weeks.  Lord that girl was brave.  They were planning to see flamingoes tomorrow.  I do hope it isn’t too early as the birds are migratory.

All in all, it was a fabulous day in Celestun.  Unfortunately hate crimes continue to dominate in the headlines.  Mail bombs to many opposing Trump, multiple slayings in a synagogue, still unanswered questions regarding the Saudi journalist killed by the Turks.

Sombre and Luz playing -- no, none of these are our dogs -- they belong to Peter.
