Wednesday, 29 November 2017: Villahermosa

Up and on the road before 5am.  Arrived in Celestun at 1:21pm.

After travelling inland this was our first view of the gulf
as we crossed Puente Celestun

Justin's message to all read:
Great trip down. After Zacatecas and Aguascalientes we checked out Guadalajara  (3 nights) Lake Chapalà (3 nights) Puerto Vallarta  (2 nights) and Yelapa (2 nights). We were thinking about spending up to a month somewhere west on our way back in the spring but no place spoke to us like Celestun so after a night in Guadalajara to catch the Steelers game we drove the 3 days to get here... arriving Wednesday. First photo is from our balcony mid afternoon. Second is around dinner time over crab stuffed avocado and refreshing adult beverages. Aahhhhh!!! (Would it be too much to mention highs are in the lo 80s and ĺows around 70?)

We received warm greeting from Rebecca at Hotel Gutierrez and from Peter at his restaurant downstairs.  We were only halfway settled into our room before we had to get down to the beach. We also wanted to walk down to Dan's property to look at the house.

Dinner at Los Pampanos -- first course aquacate con jaiba (avocado stuffed with crab), and for our entree empanadas camerones (shrimp empanadas).  Of course, this was accompanied by margaritas a la rocas ("... on the rocks").  Most of the restaurants on the beach close just after sunset.  This is good for two reasons.  One it means we will eat dinner earlier and, more importantly, it means we will continue our ritual to celebrate the sunset each evening.
