I liked Chiang Mai so much more than Bangkok and so much more than our beach experience. But, maybe we don’t need to come here again.
The big event for today was our cooking class. Yesterday we met Greg and Von on our elephant excursion. They were from Ho Chi Minh City. They recommended Grandma’s Cooking School classes. We would second that recommendation. Our class today was fantastic. Kiki, our instructor, has been leading groups like ours for five years. I’ve taken a lot of cooking classes… she was great. And, all the behind the scenes prep and action that made our work seamless and fun. There were nine people in our group; she had all our names memorized instantly it seemed. We had a choice of two soups, tom yum and coconut with choice of protein. We all made pad Thai with choice of protein. We had a choice of four curries: red, green, Khoa soi, and parang curry all with protein and sauce and mango sticky rice. Kiki had us humming. The experience was great! I can see adding some Asian dishes to our regular rotation. Plus, I still want to take a cooking class in Vietnam.
