Chana and his brother-in-law arrived by 8am and we were on our way out of town. Chana uses his Tuk-tuk for local transportation but today we were heading farther out of town.
#8. Banteay Sri Temple. Women’s temple. 10th century Hindu temple “Women’s” because only women could have done the intricate (miniature) carving…built by a scholar, not a king. Very peaceful.
We saw workers who had constructed elaborate scaffolding and were in the middle of trimming limbs. We weren’t really sure it went as planned.
Next stop, the mountains. Send the stress away.
#9 . Svay Leu. Nine meter long Reclining Buddha carved into natural sandstone.
#10. 1000 linga -- Religious carvings are in the bottom of the riverbed. They were carved and then the river was redirected. It is believed that the water is blessed and purified as it flows over these male and female symbols and then better when used for irrigation and spiritual ceremonies.
