#12. Ta-Proem Temple. Trees of the temple
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider was filmed here.
Built in the late 12th century by the King, the trees surround the buildings and intertwine with the ruins. Does this symbolize nature reclaiming the structures? So many things to look at here -- we spent several hours.
Back to hotel to get Justin’s phone/camera. He'd forgotten it and we knew we didn't have time to go back before sunrise. Chana encouraged us to go to the Temple of the Trees before it got too busy . Now we had time for breakfast too. And, we met Angelica from the Algarve. She described herself as a “sunset girl.” Me too!
Angkor Wat hosted an international half marathon on Thursday. The route was through the temple area ending right at Angkor Wat!
Back to Angkor Wat, this time to explore a bit.
Hot! I was templed out. It was hot!
#13. Angkor Tom. We entered through the Tonie Om Gate, one of five entrances.
#14. Bayon temple Largest on Angkor Thom
#15. BaPhun Large reclining Buddha “hidden” in back
We saw lots of monkeys. And lots of bats today. We even saw a piglet running down the street. Lots of monkeys. Yuk. Lots of bats. Double yuk.
