Sunday, 30 November 2025: Phnom Pehn to Siem Reap

Sokpaora, our driver for today, picked us right on time at 9:30. Saying farewell to Phnom Penh, we were on our way to Siem Reap. About an hour out we stopped at a spider market. Kinda creepy. We bought bananas and what we think is a chocolate cookie.

The road from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap is two-lane and filled with traffic — trucks, cars, motorcycles and many are laden with passengers and goods of all descriptions. Lots of passing and making up of lanes but it all seems to operate smoothly— thankfully.

Much later we stopped at Kampong Kdei bridge.   This 12th-century stone-arch bridge is one of the longest and best-preserved ancient bridges in Southeast Asia. Its main feature are the ornate naga (serpent) carvings. Once a major thoroughfare between Phnom Pehn and Angkor Wat, it is now only open to pedestrians and light traffic.

We arrived at The Pierre Hotel in Siem Reap.  Yes, this hotel will be just fine.  We explored just a little and then decided on dinner at the hotel.
