Monday, 4 November 2019: Merida

We went to Merida yesterday for the game and of course to shop.  We stocked up on beer and wine at Costco before we settled in at Boston’s for the game.  Gemma stayed in our hotel room at Casa Carmita.  It seems she wasn’t the only one who didn’t show up for the game.  Coach La Fleur says ”we need to do better.”  Ya’ think?

We spent most of Monday at Immigrations.  Why you ask...Justin didn’t bring his permanent residence card with him as we headed south so when we crossed the border, he was only given a 30 day visa.  First to immigrations, then around the corner for copies and pictures, back to immigrations.  Wrong form?  Back around the corner.  It was quite the cluster and thankfully I had excellent training in Japan for the bureaucracy  of it all.

And, remember that I just jumped through the hoops to replace Justin’s drivers license.  I went on line, filled out a form, paid about twenty dollars and it was in the mail to us within about three days.  To get a new residency card, we have to go in person, wait in line, get new photos, fill out multiple forms, get duplicate copies of all of them, and now we wait for three or four weeks, to get a call to go back in to wait in line to get fingerprints made, again. Then in another three weeks or so, we will need to go back to pick up the card.  Ok.  There is a reason I'm happy to be outside of the US -- I just seem to have forgotten it today.

Somewhere in the back and forth Justin lost his phone.  Actually he knew exactly where and when but since the office closed at three pm, we had to wait until the next day— all the while wondering if it would indeed still be there in the morning.  So we ran errands and tried to regain something of the day.
