Saturday, 6 April 2019: Puebla to Saltillo

We were on the road way too early (by 5:15am).
First stop: get gas.  It was interesting to see gas stations other than Pemex.  We saw Gulf, Shell, BP, we even saw Gemma.  All were still full service.  I was happy to tip the attendant 10 pesos for having cleaned our windshield.

Today on the road we bought strawberries.  Oh my goodness.  It will be weeks and weeks before we get fruit this good in Green Bay.  Yes, the world is round and foods are ripe somewhere all the time,  however, it is really nice when fruits and vegetables are fresh and ripe and local.

I should have stood beside this mammoth guy so there would be
 something tp indicate scale.
He was huge!  Image meeting him near a front door.
There'd be no need for a welcome sign as no one would feel welcomed.

In Saltillo where to stay?  We’ve been here before but I guess I didn’t take good notes.  I looked in my Expedia account and Booking.com to see where we stayed before but there were no entries.  By the time we got into town we were dog tired so we stopped at a few places that were easy to access from the freeways and then easy to get back on the road in the morning.  Well, guess what, it is Saturday night and the weather is good.  Many hotels were fully booked.  One such hotel was the Camino Real. When we pulled up to the pink and gold building, we both knew we’d been here before.  We will want to stay here again.   We ended up at the Hotel Fuente where we’d also stayed before.  A pet friendly hotel with gated parking is a top priority.  Clean sheets too.  As it turns out, this hotel has a pretty good breakfast too.
