Friday, 3 November, 2017: Murfreesboro

Mary had no classes today so John lead us on a road trip to Nashville. We stopped at Martin BBQ for lunch on the way -- my first foray into Tennessee BBQ.

Sights along our driving tour included the Vanderbilt University campus as well as Centennial Park where there is a replica of Parthenon. We also drove by Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans.  We walked along "Lower Broad" (Broadway) passing the sight of the original Grand Ole Opry and Ryman Theater as well as the Johnny Cash Museum and Tootie's Orchid Lounge.

We stopped for a drink at BBKings.  The plentiful venues for live music, bars, pedal bars assured us that we will want to come back here.

Nashville, home to GooGoo Clusters,  hosts classes on
Thursdays and Fridays.  Oh, yeah!  We will come back!

On our way out of town we drove by the house where John and Mary lived in the early 80's --  yes, there was life before DoDDS.

Back in Murfreesboro, Mary and John's son Jeb and granddaughter Ariel joined us for an old school Japanese dinner of yakisoba, lumpia and gyoza-like dumplings. This was a great way to end our walk down memory lane.

Is this a great shot or what?
