Thursday, 6 December 2018: Merida

We went to Mérida on Tuesday afternoon.  We found the Mecca store of all things plastic. In addition to everything plastic, they had three serving bowls in the blue and white design that matches some of our other dishes.  Mexican, but still, blue and white.

We visited with Antonio and Alonso.  We’ve got a debacle with our residency that implicates the car.  Hopefully we’ll be able to sort this out soon.  After the obligatory stop at Home Depot we had Thai food for dinner.  We’d go back to Lians.  Located on Paseo Montejo, we are sure to pass by there again.
About 10pm we checked into our favorite hotel, Casa Carmita.  Miguel was there to greet us and
Daniella made a great breakfast on Wednesday.  That set us up for a very productive day.

We picked up our check from Super Colchones.  That was a debacle, but at least it is mostly resolved.
We looked at furniture.

We are looking for lamp shades for our very tall lamps and we are also looking for ceramic globes for our Yoke-light fixture in the living room.  Since we've been looking for a while, we are entertaining other options.  We found these light fixtures where the wire frame is covered in a rustic linen.  Nope, the seams weren't even finished and they are very proud of these lamp shades charging well over $200 USD.  Get me a sewing machine and I could go to town.

We decided to pass on the giant foot too

We looked countertops and found that we can get the entire kitchen and bar in granite for about $1,000.  Compared to what we just paid in Brussels, they are giving it away!
We visited with a kitchen designer. They have very European and American looking options but I really want to stay with the Mexican look. How do I do that without tile or rather grout. It is just too hard to keep clean.  We also visited with a closet design guy but the product might look a bit too plastic-y for Justin and me.

We went to a new grocery type store, Chedurari. It is in a location near lots of expats so the selection is just a tab bit different.  Of course, we made the o
bligatory stop at Sam’s on the way out of town.

Our goal was to be home by 4:00pm to meet with Taco.  He was supposed to meet us at the house to give us an estimate on building our closet.  Well, darn if he didn’t show up.  (Dellene asked me if I was really surprised when I shared my plight with her.  She knows...)
