Monday, 19 November 2018: Merida

Sandra and Peter came over around 6pm on Sunday for happy hour.  I made an eggplant, yogurt, almond pesto dish served with pita.  We’d gotten the eggplant when we were in Merida a few days ago cause you sure can’t find that here locally.  Sandra and Peter told us that Ceramat was having 40% off on Helvex fixtures for Buen Fin.  Several people have told us that Helvex is the only brand that will last more than just a year or two.  Knowing that we needed bathroom fixtures for eight bathrooms, we knew we should go to Merida.  The trip would also give us a chance to follow up on our delivery from Sam’s.  When we bought our frig, washer and tv, the lady told us they’d be delivered within 24 to 48 hours.  Hmmm.  We hadn’t seen them yet and phone calls were getting no results, so, yes, even though I hadn’t wanted to go to town, we were on our way.

Monday is Abraham's day off.  He leaves on Sunday afternoon and goes to Tetiz where he owns the house his mom lives in.  He spends his time off with her and then returns to us on Tuesday morning.  When he is gone and we are not here, Jonathan spends the night here.  Since we were going to Merida, we asked Jonathan to spend the night.  We fed all the animals before we left.  They only get kibble when we are here.  Abraham is cooking less for the -- if Gemma eats kibble, all the rest can too!

Ceramat turned out to be totally worth the trip.  We selected fixtures for both kitchens, six bathroom sinks and five showers.  We will replace a few of the sinks with pedestal sinks so we will wait for those fixtures.  As it was we spent a boatload of money but we saved 40%, right?  And, we walked out with nothing!  Part of the goods will be available for pick up on Thursday and the remainder in two weeks.  After a stop at Sam’s to learn it could be another two weeks before delivery of our frig, washer and tv... I am beginning to think it is a plot.  We’ve got lots of charges on our credit card and lots of pieces of paper and lots of promises.  Aargh!!!

On to Boston’s to watch the Rams and the Chiefs.  The game was to have been played in Mexico City but they determined that the field wasn’t up to snuff so they moved the game back to LA.  I wondered if the players had oxygen on the sidelines given poor air quality given the raging fires in California.  What a travesty!
