Tuesday, 25 February 2020: Merida

We got to see Aholi yesterday.  Funny how one really needs a massage when they get home from vacation.

Perhaps the most pressing thing I had to do as soon as we got home was to schedule our jury duty.  And, a plan comes through!!!  Both Justin and I are on stand-by for  Monday, 30 March 2020 in Austin.  Neither of us has ever served so we will see.  Actually, since we are only stand-by I would imagine that we won’t even need to drive to the courthouse, but we will be there at the ready.

Perhaps the second most pressing chore was to take care of the dogs.  We had rescheduled our drop off time for Chahook for today, so we loaded her up to go to the shelter.  We’d been down this road before but it wasn’t any easier.  We left this morning before Abraham got back from Tetiz.  Neither Justin nor I were very talkative throughout the drive.

Taking care of Max was also part of “taking care of the dogs."  We’d had his surgery scheduled right before we left, but that meant Abraham would be on his own for recovery, wound care, meds, etc.  The biggest part of this is to keep him inside or on a tether so he can’t run and play.  That was too much to ask of Abraham by himself so we postponed.  We’d decided we wanted to do both the neutering and gastropexia.  Seems Great Danes have a propensity for their stomachs to flip.  Justin lost a Dane to this and we don’t need to go down that road again.  I had gathered info from several vets on prices, procedures, etc but I wasn’t satisfied yet so I continued my search.

After we dropped off Chahook, we stopped by the granite place.  We still need the piece for the top of the oven and we need to have a piece in the guest kitchen cut so we can install drawers.  We also went to Sam’s and the plant store but we still made it home  in time for a quick swim before dinner with Robin and Evan. Tonight was their last night last.  Sure we were in Cuba for 12 days but their month seemed to go by quickly.
