Sunday, 28 November 2021: Monument de Los Patriots and La Chata

We left to go to Merida this morning after bidding farewell to Jenn and Robin.  They are settling into the house and into Celestun and they will be fine while we are gone.  Their home in Switzerland is a travel trailer.  So, yes, they are doing just fine with all this space.

Rudolpho, our friend who is the mastermind behind the Packer Fan Zone at Boston’s in Merida, had organized a group photo at Monument de las Patriots.  There are over sixty members of the club; thankfully, the turn out for the photo reflected that healthy membership.  Lots of partners, a few kids and even two dogs.  Of course we took Gemma!

The Packer game this week was against the L A Rams.  The group met at La Chata for the midafternoon kickoff.  This week we met the owner, Antonio.  “Tonia” lived in Stevens Point when he was maybe 12 or so as an exchange student.  He says he remembers saying he wanted to go somewhere where no one spoke any Spanish.  Even today that might be the case in Stevens Point!  He has fond memories of going to Lambeau field. Today, he hosted about 25 rather rabid Packer fans.

Josh said he had a dream about my dip. (That could be creepy but instead it was a nice complement.)  I get Josh and Jake mixed up so maybe this will help me remember. Josh’s girlfriend, Marianna, bless her heart, doesn’t know a bit about football. Bless her heart!

We ordered throwback jerseys for the Jordan and Erich.  We will be deep into the playoffs when they visit in January.
