Tuesday, 30 July 2019: Algoma

We got the notification that our request has been approved!!!
We paid $800 to get the chance to spend $30,000 -- yea!

Last weekend there was a Tall Ships festival in Green Bay.  Justin helped with line-handling on Sunday morning.  On Tuesday, a handful of the boats were going to race from Algoma to Kenosha, just south of Milwaukee.  We volunteered to help on the committee boat to start the race.  We headed to Algoma, boarded the Fishin' Magician, a charter fishing boat and headed out to set the line.

There was very little wind (thankfully the boats had 48 hours to finish the race) and the start line was rather long so I didn't get to see the sails flutter as they filled with wind at the start like I thought I might but it was great to be out on the water and the views were certainly different than they would have been from the shore.  It was  totally enjoyable three or four hours.

We took the scenic route on the drive back to Brussels.  We decided we wanted to go to The Old Post Inn in Maplewood.  The oldest building in the county, once a post office, is now a steakhouse. The building looks fabulous and the food reviews are quite positive.  We will have to come back.
