Saturday, 13 July 2019: Calumet, Upper Peninsula of Michigan

After a crisis in looking for Justin’s water bottle (we finally found it in the back door of the car) we left Tom and Joan.  We thought they might come with us but when it came down to it, they weren’t up for a road trip.

We headed north and then more north through Presque Isle Wilderness Park. While we were walking around in the park, we chatted with a guy from Dallas with a golden lab named Bacon.  How cool is that?  On this trip I learned that Vilas county and Oneida county have the most lakes of anywhere in the world.  No wonder they. All it Land of Lakes. I thought that was a brand of butter didn’t realize that was a place too.

Along the drive to Copper Harbor, the views of Lake Superior were indeed superior.

Hwy 41 starts up here and goes to Miami. Now that would be a road trip.

Where in the world are we?

I was anxious about finding a hotel on a Saturday night in the middle of the summer but there really was no need to worry.  We ended up in a cute little lodge in Calumet, Michigan.  (Yes, that’s baking powder too.)  our bed at Tom and Joan’s had been a double bed so Gemma was quite happy that we were back into a queen sized bed and she even had the choice of being with us or in a queen sized bed of her own.

The views along the lake shore were fabulous!!!  We even found a small waterfall along the way.
