Dr. Mleziva came over this afternoon and Gemma is at peace.
We will bury her in the backyard. Justin’s beveled Darby is there too. No worries because all dogs go to heaven.

We left Celestun just over a month ago. We’ve spent a lot of time the last few weeks with Gemma; holding her, loving on her. She has been such a joy.
Meanwhile, we bought a new stove. It’s all induction so that means I get to buy new cookware too.
Ric is here at our house recuperating. He is doing well.
Justin made Bloody Mary's while we watched a bit of the draft. I am ready for some football!
New puppies in Celestun, Yoda and Canello are getting bigger.
We talked to Jordan early Wednesday afternoon to learn that Gemma wasn’t doing well at all. We headed home. We were well past Panama City but Steven took us back to Pensacola.
I checked into flights out of Pensacola but we ended up renting a car …so we drove…and drove… and drove.
We got home early Friday morning and Jordan’s brought Gemma home on his way to work. It’s good to be back home and with our dog.
Yesterday we were up at at it early. At 5:56am we were on our way.
Dinner at a fun beach diner in Perdico Key right at the Florida/Alabama border.
Ric’s surgery was today in Green Bay. All went well and we should have a roommate well on his way toward healing by the time we return.
When I woke up to see that the sun was up but we weren’t moving I knew something was amiss. We’d run aground over night. After Steven took a quick plunge in the water, all was fine and we were underway at 7:00am.
We’ll actually all wasn’t fine since we created a bit of an oil slick during the night. The engine wasn’t cooperating so after a quick sail out of the intercostal waterway into the gulf, just so we could say we did it, we ducked into a cove and dropped anchor. While Steven did his assessment we were treated to swimming with dolphins and an air show. The Blue Angels were flying out of Pensacola; no, they weren’t really practicing but having the fly overs reminded me of the adage “the sound of freedom.”
We left our Gemma with Jordan and his family and flew to New Orleans to meet Steven for the next adventure. I think we were at home for three days before we were on the road. After a quick trip to Costco and of course, a trip to The Joint for BBQ, we headed to the boat. Mouse Trap. This was the boat the Steven, Barbie and their kids lived on for several years. Steven bought the boat again, twenty years later and we are repositioning her from Kentucky Lake to Chocowinity.
Last minute provisioning of fuel and other necessities had us departing at 1:50 pm, We tooled down the canal toward the inter coastal waterway. This 35’ x 20’ catamaran weighs 6,000 lbs. As much of a challenge as that would have been, todays challenge was to get passed the bridge. We started contacting the bridge at 3:05pm. Steven had stories of waiting for several hours but then, what did we see but that the bridge was open. What a deal! No waiting at all!
We stopped at 9:33 at Horn Island. A good day.
Meanwhile in Celestun, Cesa is without her brother Soxx but she wont be having any puppies of her own. Laura and Abraham took care of business. She is recovering nicely.
Reese Bros BBQ in San Antonio. Just off the freeway and delish!!! Welcome home! |
Our time with Dellene was fabulous. Always too short and this trip especially so, but we talked the entire time about everything in the world. She is so dear to me.
Two cosmic events -- the solar eclipse and Dellene's retirement and party!
