Sunday, 28 August 2022:White Lake aboard Purr

We had a front row seat for the first local Float-a-Poluzza.  They are trying to break the Guinness record of over 2,000 canoes and kayaks. With just over 200 entries, they know it might take a couple of years to get the numbers up, but they are trying.
We woke up this morning to the organizers setting buoys and markers. Floaters started showing up around 1pm. Dina joined us for Bloody Mary’s as we watched Joe and Joel wrestle to set the anchor for Joel’s boat. What a mess -- we refrained from laughing out loud.  A guy from channel 13 news in Grand Rapids felt like the back of our boat was a great spot to chat with folks as they headed in.  A couple of drones came at 2pm and the crowd started to dissipate as the clouds rolled in.   Is wasn’t exactly like seeing the start of the Tour de France but it was pretty cool for a Sunday in Montague.
