Thursday, 3 October 2024: flying to Celestun

“Are you checking luggage?”

“No”

Who ever said that?

I am on my way to Mérida.  Justin dropped me off at the airport after ensuring I’d be ok to travel with cheese.  Cheese, cheese, necessary cheese.  Typically we travel for the winter with 8-10 lbs.  Last year we had none!  To make sure that didn’t happen again, I travelled with 2 lbs of Ron’s two-year and a healthy hunk of blue.   Here’s another prompt for eyes popping:  they stop serving not only breakfast but also breakfast beverages at 9:30am at O’Hare. I might have enjoyed a mimosa or a Bloody Mary but not here and not today. Instead I opted for a grilled chicken sandwich and settled in for people watching.

Easy connection in Houston and then in to Merida.  Luis met me at the airport with my rental car.  Overnight at Hotel Hacienda Inn Aeropuerto.  I enjoyed panuchos and my first margarita and panuchos for this trip.

We’ve been getting somewhat disconcerting messages from various sources in Celestun — Abraham has been drinking too much — too many people in and out of the house.  Justin and I decided I needed to make an unannounced visit.  I’ll pop in and look around to see what I see.  I’ll be in Celestun only for a few days before heading to Georgetown to settle in to our new house in Essex Lane.  Jumping through the hoops of proving paperwork for NFCU while on the boat and having internet and computer hiccups was a beast but we did finally close and it is ours.
