Saturday, 22 March 2025: Millway Drive

Our time in Houston was perfect.  First stop was to buy a phone!  Justin has been a trouper for the last month.  I can share my life and my bed with this man but not so much when you start talking about sharing a phone.

Dinner with Jim and Betty was perfect. Delicious Thai food at a little hole in the wall in Montgomery.  Then dinner with Hal and Willie in Kemah and breakfast with Bill and Diana in Clear Lake City.  And why can't I remember to take pictures any more?  I guess I was just too excited to see my peeps.

We finally got to go to Johnson Space Center!  For how many years I lived right there but I never went.  We joined as members so we will need to go back next fall.  I looked at the website a week or so before but I didn’t make reservations for the Mission Control tour since we didn’t know exactly when we’d be there.  I didn’t allow for it being spring break… we will need to go back.

Before we left the Houston area, we explored a little bit.  We drove through the University of Houston campus as the beginning of a walk down memory lane for me.  And then, we headed farther down that memory lane to my childhood home on Osprey Drive.  When I grew up, the house was off of Crestmont Park Road, now it is off of MLK.  Yes, it is the hood and yes, I was nervous, but I am so glad we went.  We also drove by Sterling High School where Dellene and her brothers went to school and where their mom taught on our way to Dellene's childhood home.  My oh my!  We even stopped at a plant sale that was being held in the Garden Villas Community Center.

Sterling is now a magnet school

6842 Evans -- my second childhood home
Mamaw and Papa's house right next door to the Ellis'

Connecting with Hal seems to take an act of congress so when we were able to reroute our trip north to go through Hull Texas to see Willie compete (and win!) at the rodeo, it was a special treat.

guess I missed that shot!

On into Austin. Dellene has been in New Mexico with the kids but now I get to see her!  Now I’m really home.
